Mob Race Suggestions by Sector
The following lists are not perfect or meant to restrict you. If appropriate, you can by all means place a race in a different sector than listed.
THIS LIST IS NOT EXHAUSTIVE, merely some suggestions to help if you are stuck or need some inspiration or motivation.
In fact, in the first list of available mob races in-game, sometimes you may find a mob in one sector but not another when it could potentially go in both. This is usually due to specific environmental contexts. For instance, an animal that lives around ponds may be under the water sectors but not the forest; however, if your forest features a pond, it could also include that mob.
Additionally, an animal may usually be found in one environment but a certain type may be found within a very different environment niche (e.g. usual forest fox vs. arctic fox).
This list tends to focus on larger animals and doesn't include any specific plantlife. We by all means encourage research about a specific territory or environment if you have a very detailed outside area. There are many, many, different kinds of biomes and we suggest starting here to get a general idea about the environmental context: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biome

OTHER SUGGESTIONS
Some of these are just more specific types of an animal that may available in-game. With these animals, you would choose the mob race that best fits the animal and then specify and describe the specific type with the short desc, long desc, and mob desc.
To use some of these, you must choose 'unique' for a mob race and then use @racename as an extra desc to state the race. You will also have greater control (and responsibility) to appropriately choose other fields, such as the form flags, part flags, affects, and resists/immunities/vulnerabilities.
You can find more information on these in the Castle Building Documents or the following links: Mob flags

Air
Birds, insects, and some other animals (like bats) have the ability to fly but you may also want to research some with the ability to glide if that is appropriate.
It may be more beneficial to look at other sector types that may also fit your zone (e.g. Is this in the air above a swamp or the icy tundra?) and choose a mob capable of flight from that list. If this does not work for you or you wish to do more searching, here are some sites that may help you.
