About

Heirs to the noble blood of darkness -- Vampires: In the undead hierarchy these beings exist close to Liches who are the pinnacle beings of the undead; Vampires, like liches are sustained by mana itself, the only difference is that they drain this mana through the blood of their victims. Although the drinking of blood is not limited to vampires and is also enjoyed by Liches and some of the more depraved of the living races, only Vampires can derive the full nourishment from it.

Vampires naturally form a hierarchical system, a turned being enslaved to the vampire that turned it. How exactly the turning occurs is not fully understood however it comes from the drinking of the subject’s blood and the death of the subject -- although not all who are drained turn and it seems to be a deliberate act on behalf of the master vampire. The top vampire in a den becomes known as The Master, Vampire King, Lord Count, or other self-proclaimed title.
As vampires age they typically humble and become smarter, but fledgling vampires are usually full of themselves and get themselves killed quite quickly. It is for this reason that some of the most ancient vampires don’t even live in vampire communities but rather cloak themselves in human guise and live among humans.

Strengths and Weaknesses

A vampire remains as it was before it was killed and turned, retaining the characteristics of its original race which is typically human. The strength of a vampire depends on its age since it was turned undead; the order the stronger and the more blood they drink the stronger they get as well. In theory if they drink a few drops of blood every few years, they can remain alive forever. This very limited immortality comes at a price, they find sunlight, silver, and holy magics harmful.

Locations

The most commonly known den of vampires are in the New Lensmoor Crypts, although compared to other vampire dens they are but weak fledglings. There are whisperings of a more ancient order of vampires known as, “The Order of Nosferatu” details of which are unknown but to the most extreme occultist, anything else about them are yet to be revealed.
