Werewolves
About
There is a common misconception that Werewolf are undead, this is not the case. A Werewolf is a member of any sentient race who has succumbed to the ‘cursed disease’ lycanthropy. Lycanthropy goes beyond curses and diseases, transcending both and being incurable by normal, mortal means. Only the greatest of High Cleric or Archmage can even diagnose lycanthropy in a subject. Although there are several types of lycanthropy, the most common renders the subject a normal member of their race a majority of the time, only on the night of a full moon they transform into a wolf, loose all sanity, and hunt the flesh of the unturned.
Although most forms of lycanthropy cause the person to turn into a wolf entirely, some strains have been known to turn the subject into a half-wolf half-man creature, and other, rarer forms may even transform the subject at other times -- even giving them control over when they transform.
It isn’t quite known how lycanthropy is passed on, nearly all adventurers seem immune to its effects; this is likely due to protection offered up by one or more gods.
Strengths and Weaknesses
Wherewolves retain many characteristics of their host race, although when transformed they also gain claws and fangs, become far stronger, gain a resistance to all weaponry that is not silver. The only reliable way to kill them is with silver. Some variants on werewolves may have shed this weakness, although that is even rarer.
Locations
A very rare sight in Lensmoor and Antrippa alike, Werewolves often live their lives peacefully unbeknownst to all until the coming of a full moon, and when the moon passes regardless of who they may have killed they go back to their normal lives with no memory of the event. In short: they can be anywhere!
