Race Section: Humans

From the prospective of other, more ancient races, humanity simply appeared out of nowhere and began to flourish in the wilderness, away from the others. Villages sprouted up, towns from villages, cities from towns, and kingdoms from cities. With a high birthrate combined with a clever and tenacious nature humans spread quickly across the land. And it wasn’t long before they made up the majority of Lensmoor.

Lacking any natural weaponry or special powers, humans had an intellect, cunning, and most of all ambition that the other races couldn’t fathom in their frail, limited forms. With the strength of many, they created communities, and in a short span of years they reached a level in the art of crafting that took other races centuries to master.

"Humans are clever because it is a requirment of their survival."
-- Old Sidhe saying

Despite the fact that humans kept to themselves, and showed a great dislike for other races, the many human Kingdoms each developed its own philosophy, god of worship, and living creed. As a result of the incredible diversity, the race was eternally at war with itself. The climax of which had over seven great Kingdoms in constant warfare. With one colossal victor in the war, the Dark Kingdom of Algol was on the verge of conquering the world when the Angels came down, rallied humanity together and crushed the Kingdom of Algol once and for all.

Without a common foe, humanity was about to come apart again only to be united under a single King. That human King ruled for a full generation before the Antrippan invaders raided the city, took his children and broke the royal line forever. When the capital city of Lensmoor was destroyed in a great storm, humanity was scattered to the four winds and in the years that followed, the nobles formerly beholden to King Lensmoor began to establish their own countries all over the continent.

Lensmoor would have come apart again had it not been for the gods decree; all the other races of Lensmoor were to join with the humans, and together build a New Lensmoor, which would be the capital; a place were all of Lensmoor’s gods would be worshiped. The gods themselves could not be denied; humans have gotten over their prejudice against other races and to this day New Lensmoor stands as the capital for all the land.

The humans born to Lensmoor are as diverse as the stars in the sky, commoners, nobles, the rich, and the disenfranchised, good, evil, neutral, the chaotic. With the means and cunning, Humans can be anything they put their minds to. Still the majority of Lensmoor’s population, the race shows no sign of dying out; and while they serve the public good, there are those who would seek to undermine it.

"If a Xorrto enters your house, use your claws to slay him. If a human enters your house, use one to shake his hand and have the other one ready just in case." -- Old Selkie Saying

Young humans are often possessed of what the Quicklings refer to as ‘wanderlust’ and that is why, these days most begin as adventurers and when they’ve seen the world and reached their potential, they retire to a more permanent role.
